Perspectives in Complex.so allow you to customise and save different views of your work, making it easy to see tasks and projects from various angles. Whether you're focusing on urgent deadlines, tracking progress for a specific team, or managing your long-term goals, Perspectives let you filter, sort, and organise your tasks to fit your needs.


Why Use Perspectives?

Perspectives are designed to help you:

  • Focus on What Matters: Group, sort and filter tasks by priority, status, due date, or any attribute to see exactly what you need at a glance.

  • Simplify Your Workflow: Save custom filters so you don’t need to reapply them every time.

  • Quickly Switch Contexts: Move between different views seamlessly, whether you’re tracking team performance or reviewing your personal to-dos. You can save your favourite display settings and access them instantly whenever you need.


How to Create a Perspective

Here's how you create a new perspective:

  1. Navigate to the Perspective page
    In the sidebar, navigate to the Perspective page.

  2. Add new Perspective

    Click the "+" icon in the top-left corner to create a new perspective. Start by giving your perspective a name—we recommend choosing one that reflects its purpose, like “Urgent Deadlines” or “Team Tasks.” Next, click on display settings to configure your preferred view. You can filter tasks by attributes such as due date, priority, assigned user, or labels. Fine-tune your perspective by adjusting sorting and grouping options. Once you're happy with your custom view, click the “Save” button to store it for future use.

  3. Access Your Saved Perspectives
    Your saved perspectives will appear in the Perspectives menu in the top-left corner. You can click on any of them to instantly switch to that view.


Editing or Deleting a Perspective

Here's how to edit or delete a Perspective:

  • To Edit: Hover over the perspective in the top-left corner on the Perspectives page and click on the 3-dot icon that appears, click "edit" to adjust the display settings, and save it again.

  • To Delete: Hover over the perspective in the top-left corner on the Perspectives page and click on the 3-dot icon that appears, click "delete" to delete the perspective.


Examples of Perspectives

Here are some ideas for how you can use Perspectives:

  • Today’s Priorities: Show all tasks due today, grouped by priority.

  • Team Overview: Display tasks assigned to specific team members by using "Group by: Assignees".

  • Upcoming Deadlines: List all tasks due in the next week, sorted by due date.

  • Personal Focus: View only tasks assigned to yourself, sorted by project or priority.
